If you’re going to be starting a weight lifting routine, you’re obviously going to need weights. A nice, big gym with a ton of equipment is always nice, but sometimes that’s too expensive and sometimes you just want to work out at home. You might not have room for barbells either (or maybe you already have them) so dumbbells are what you need right now. I don’t want you to go out and spend a ton of money on dumbbells because you really don’t need to. Sure, there are lots of expensive options and they are good, but there are good, cheap dumbbells as well and that’s what I’m focusing on.
You can buy good, cheap dumbbells online, but keep in mind shipping is going to be a pain because you’ll pay for the weight being shipped. There’s really no way around this unless you luck into a free shipping deal, but that most likely isn’t going to be offered on cheap dumbbells. I’d say the #1 thing to focus on is the reputation of the product based on customer reviews. The bottom line is weight is weight and you simply need something with a good grip that isn’t going to fall apart on you. Also, regular dumbbells usually come in cheaper than adjustable dumbbells.
So, with that in mind, I did some research and came up with a nice set of dumbbells that won’t break the bank. It was not easy. There are lots of cheap dumbbells out there that will stink up your apartment and give off nasty odors so watch out!
